Le Verre Volé
Canal Saint-Martin's original natural wine bar. Still the real thing.
Le Verre Volé has been on the Canal Saint-Martin since 2000 — back when the 10th was still a neighbourhood rather than a destination. It's a wine shop that also serves food, or a restaurant that happens to sell bottles to take home, depending on which way you're coming at it. The distinction doesn't really matter once you're sitting down.
The list leans heavily natural — low-intervention, small producers, a lot of stuff you won't find anywhere else. The food is good, simple, done well. But honestly, the wine is the point. Order a bottle, settle in.
"If you're doing the natural wine thing in Paris, this is a good stop. Among many. Enjoy."
Le Verre Volé, 67 Rue de Lancry, 10th. Go for wine, stay for wine, eat something good while you're there. It gets busy — if you want a table rather than a perch at the bar, book ahead or go early.
The 10th around Canal Saint-Martin has no shortage of good natural wine spots but this is one of the originals. Worth knowing.
