Best challah in London. Come on Friday — that's when they bake it and it goes fast. The loaves are enormous, golden, properly braided. Take it home warm and eat it the same day.

The rest of the bakery is excellent too — honest sourdough, good pastries, the kind of place that's busy on a Saturday morning because it deserves to be. But the challah on a Friday is the reason to make the trip specifically.

It's on South End Road, a short walk from the Heath. Good combination: pick up the challah, do a lap of the ponds, go home.
