Bongo Joe
Halles de l’Île · Best for creative procrastination, coffee turning into wine... A record shop, label, bar and terrace sitting on an island in the Rhône. Bongo Joe is not where I would conduct a Zoom call or spend six hours building a financial model. It is where I would take a laptop for a short burst of writing, answer some emails and inevitably become distracted. Go earlier in the day, keep the headphones off and put the computer away when the room starts feeling social. The distractions are part of the recommendation. Good for: Writing, light admin, music and abandoning work at an appropriate hour
It started as a record shop — still is one, technically — and the outside terrace just became the main event. The music is good. The vibe is unpretentious. Nobody is performing anything. Geneva can feel like a city where everyone is busy being correct about something; Bongo Joe is the exception. One of the only places in this city that feels genuinely relaxed.
