The American Brasserie in general is an underrated institution, and this place does it well. Life is good if you have a place like The Smith within walking distance from your house.”

“Kilwins started in Petoskey, Michigan in 1947. Now there's a few hundred of them across the country, all making fudge on marble slabs and ice cream in-store the way they did 78 years ago. This one's in Saugatuck, I grew up going here in the summer. Get an ice cream, a square of fudge, whatever else looks good in the window. Quintessential Americana summer vibes.”
