Drink
these beers are crisp and refreshing, but most importantly the mini bottles are just the perfect size for slamming in summer heat. Can get at COOP and most kiosks in Geneva. But the beer is from Portugal.
Bar
A little pop-up bar right on the Rhône. You can jump in the river in between sips of your beer. Colourful furniture, bocce ball, some tables under the trees. Open only in summer. My first instinct was that I didn't like it, because I'm particular about my drinks and plastic cups are normally a hard no for me. But the beers here are shockingly cold and crispy and they just hit. The plastic cups work somehow. Leave work a bit early. You're at La Barje in 15 minutes. You jump in the water, then drink a cold beer, and you say: this is the greatest city in the world.
Drink
This is my favorite carbonated beverage on the market that's not beer. Not too sweet, good carbonation, a nice bit of caffeine to keep you going. Its a Swiss-made maté, nice flavors, it's kinda hard to find but the Migros by my office near Nations has it. Big fan of this stuff, chug one down, after lunch, keep working.
Bar
It started as a record shop — still is one, technically — and the outside terrace just became the main event. The music is good. The vibe is unpretentious. Nobody is performing anything. Geneva can feel like a city where everyone is busy being correct about something; Bongo Joe is the exception. One of the only places in this city that feels genuinely relaxed.
